People relate to plants through their senses. The look, feel, fragrance and taste of plants in the garden resonate along with stories of culture, healing, and history. At Smithsonian Gardens, we tell American stories using many sources to determine what stories will be told at Common Ground:Our American Garden, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and the National Museum of the American Indian. By gathering diverse first-person stories about people and plants through the Community of Gardens App and our online website, we hope to increase the diversity of stories we share with our visitors and encourage them to share their own. Attendees will see a different way of connecting with their visitors by connecting plants and people through stories.
