In 2005, the new CEO of the Portland Japanese Garden wrote the first check for a giving circle to support the Garden, galvanizing a non-giving Board into new roles as generous givers and ardent ambassadors. By creating and nurturing relationships in their local community, nationally, and around the world, they were able to build the $37,000,000 expansion at the Portland Japanese Garden and elevate appreciation of the global role of Japanese gardens. Attendees of this session will gain inspiration and take lessons from the experiences and learnings of the Portland Japanese Garden to apply to their organization to take it to the next level.
